Meet Coach Courtney Maurer

Founder • Head Coach • Hitting & Catching Instructor

With 18 years of playing experience and 6 years of coaching experience, Coach Courtney is passionate about helping young athletes grow both on and off the softball field. As a former collegiate softball player at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), she enjoys sharing the knowledge and lessons she gained throughout her playing career to help athletes build confidence, improve their skills, and develop a love for the game.

During her time at AACC, Courtney was honored to earn All-Region recognition in all three seasons. She finished her collegiate career with a .337 batting average83 career hits55 RBIs, and a .975 fielding percentage. While she is proud of these accomplishments, she believes they are a reflection of consistent hard work, preparation, and a commitment to always improving—values she strives to instill in every athlete she coaches.

Courtney believes that every player has the ability to improve with the right instruction, encouragement, and effort. She understands that every athlete learns differently, so she tailors each lesson to fit the individual player’s age, experience, and goals. Whether an athlete is just beginning their softball journey or preparing for high school, travel, or collegiate competition, her goal is to create a positive environment where players feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and growing from every lesson.

Her instruction focuses on building strong fundamentals, proper mechanics, softball IQ, and confidence through game-like training and quality repetitions. More importantly, she hopes every player leaves each lesson feeling encouraged, motivated, and excited to continue improving. In addition to coaching, Courtney is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health (MPH), further strengthening her commitment to athlete development, education, and long-term success. She believes that academics and athletics go hand in hand and enjoys mentoring athletes as they pursue their educational and collegiate goals alongside their passion for softball.

Coach Courtney is grateful for the coaches and mentors who invested in her throughout her playing career, and she is passionate about giving that same support to the next generation of athletes. Meet Coach Jaclyn Nevins

Assistant Coach • Pitching Coach

Coach Jaclyn is passionate about helping young athletes build confidence, develop strong fundamentals, and reach their full potential on and off the softball field. As a former collegiate softball player at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), she enjoys sharing the knowledge and experiences that shaped her playing career while helping athletes grow their love for the game.

A three-year starter at AACC, Jaclyn was recognized for her versatility and success as both a pitcher and position player. She finished her collegiate career with a .331 batting average81 career hits53 RBIs11 home runs, and a .915 fielding percentage. Throughout her career, she earned numerous honors, including All-MD JUCO First Team recognition as both a Pitcher and InfielderNJCAA Region 20 Division II First Team (Utility)Region 20 Division II Player of the Month, and selection to the Region 20 Division II All-Tournament Team. While she is proud of these accomplishments, she believes they are a reflection of dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to continuous improvement—qualities she strives to instill in every athlete she coaches.

Jaclyn believes every player has the ability to grow with the right instruction, encouragement, and mindset. She understands that each athlete develops at their own pace and tailors every lesson to meet the player’s individual needs and goals. Whether an athlete is learning the fundamentals, developing advanced pitching mechanics, or preparing for travel, high school, or collegiate softball, her goal is to create a positive environment where players feel supported, challenged, and confident in their development.

Her instruction emphasizes proper pitching mechanics, arm care, confidence in the circle, softball IQ, and game-like training, while also helping athletes develop as complete softball players.

Coach Jaclyn’s focus is on clear, detailed instruction that athletes can immediately apply in practice and games. She works closely with pitchers to build consistency in their mechanics, improve command, and develop a strong mental approach in pressure situations. Her goal is for athletes to leave each lesson with a better understanding of their movement, their mindset, and the adjustments needed to continue progressing.

She looks forward to working with each athlete to help them build confidence in the circle, improve performance, and develop the skills needed to compete at a higher level.

 
 
 

Meet Coach Kaleigh Hurd

Assistant Coach

With 18 years of playing experience and a passion for developing athletes, Coach Kaleigh brings a wealth of on-field knowledge and mentorship to every session. A former collegiate player and assistant coach at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), she competed in two seasons with the program. During her freshman season, she was honored with the Dean William Evans Female Scholar Athlete Award and finished her collegiate career with a .268 batting average, 56 career hits, 25 RBIs, and a .942 fielding percentage. She also earned an Outstanding Achievement Award as a pre-service mathematics educator during her second year at AACC.

Beyond the field, Kaleigh served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council at AACC, a leadership organization made up of representatives from each athletic program. Through this role, she worked to strengthen communication between student-athletes and athletic staff while promoting leadership and teamwork across campus. These experiences reinforced her belief that balancing academics with athletics helps athletes reach their greatest potential.

Coach Kaleigh’s specialty is defensive development. As a true utility player throughout her travel and collegiate career, she embraced every opportunity to contribute, playing left field, center field, right field, third base, shortstop, and pitcher. That versatility shapes her coaching philosophy, as she emphasizes strong defensive fundamentals, softball IQ, confidence, and preparing athletes to contribute wherever their team needs them most.

In addition to coaching, Kaleigh uses her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a concentration in Secondary Education to teach mathematics to students in grades 1, 2, 4, 5, and Pre-Algebra. Her experience in the classroom reinforces her belief that strong academics support athletic growth and vice versa, allowing her to encourage athletes both on the field and in the classroom.

Coach Kaleigh believes every athlete holds the key to their own success. With determination, drive, and the right coaching guidance, she believes players can achieve a great deal. She is passionate about helping athletes develop confidence, discipline, and a love for the game while supporting their educational and athletic goals. Whether in the classroom or on the softball field, her mission is to help every athlete grow into the best version of themselves.

 

Meet Coach Dave Maurer

Assistant Coach

With nearly 20 years of coaching experience, Coach Dave Maurer has dedicated his time to helping young athletes grow both on and off the field. Having coached softball and baseball for nearly two decades, he has been part of numerous tournament championship teams and has helped many players continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. While he values success, his greatest reward has always been watching athletes develop confidence, character, and a genuine love for the game.

Coach Dave believes every player deserves the same opportunity to learn, improve, and earn their role through hard work. He has never believed in favoritism or “daddy ball,” instead creating an environment where athletes are treated fairly, encouraged to compete, and supported throughout their development.

Known for his patient and approachable coaching style, Coach Dave takes pride in building meaningful relationships with his players while challenging them to become the best versions of themselves. He emphasizes strong fundamentals, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude, always striving to create an environment where athletes feel supported, valued, and excited to come to the field each day.
